There are several ways that you can clean your Cricut mat but here are a few of the quickest and easiest ways to do it:
1. Wash with warm, soapy water.
For starters, you can try soaking and washing your mat with warm, soapy water. This will help to remove dirt, hair and other debris that is stuck to it. After cleaning and rinsing your mat, allow it to air dry.
2. Use a lint roller.
Micah, from Home Faith Family shares a wonderful and quick tutorial on how you can quickly clean your Cricut mat with just a lint roller.
Here you can see the before and after pictures of her Cricut mat:
The lint roller works because it makes it very easy to pick up tiny pieces of fabric and other debris that’s hard to remove by hand.
3. Use unscented baby wipes.
Baby wipes are great to have on hand for quick and easy clean up. As a suggestion, keep a box near your machine so when you are finished with your projects you can simply grab a wipe and clean your board.
4. Use a Magic Eraser.
Magic Erasers contain a mild cleaning solution that helps to remove dirt and grim from your mats without damage.
5. Use Goo Gone
If after trying the above steps and your mats are still dirty, as a last resort you can opt to use an adhesive remover such as Goo Gone to give your mats a fresh, new start.
After applying the Goo Gone, you can use a tool such as this or a credit card to remove your mat’s old adhesive but no worries! You’ll be able to “restick” your boards by simply using an adhesive spray on the surface.
