A Brief History

The first Cricut machine: The Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter

Cricut machines have been around for several years starting with the Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter which was released in 2006.  This machine, created by Provo Craft & Novelty, changed the game for Scrapbookers everywhere because they no longer had to rely on their local craft stores to make dies for their crafting projects and could instead make them at home.

The Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter came with a cartridge that had pre-installed cut and design settings which allowed the user to create crafts faster and easier however, it came with limitations such as being able to only cut in one direction.

Then in 2014, a new and exciting wave hit the crafting community again with the release of the Cricut Explore One.

The Cricut Explore One is primarily responsible for all the buzz that you’ve been hearing and seeing lately.

When it comes to why this machine has been receiving so much praise, it’s mostly due to it’s amazing features such as it’s ability to cut and write at the same time as well as the user being able to upload their own images and fonts via design software on a PC, Mac or iOS device.
